Students with learning differences may struggle accomplishing daily tasks that require organization, planning and time management.  Learning differences include:

  • Executive Functioning
  • Dyslexia
  • Discalcula
  • Language and Auditory Processing
  • Sensory Processing
  • Memory Retention
  • Other learning differences

Many students with learning differences require  tutoring/coaching in order to develop a system that allows them to manage their school workload.

How does the bodyLITERATE support students with learning differences?

The bodyLITERATE works with students to develop an individualized system to tackle their unique learning differences to create an efficient, joyful learning experience in and out of school.  We tailor our support for each child’s unique needs to identify his/her strengths and overcome the core challenges in his/her learning process.  The first step is to help students become more aware of their learning patterns—how do they learn?—visual? Kinesthetic? Aural? Etc.  From here, we tailor a program according to the students’ inherent learning styles and then we work with parents and teachers to help implement the system in all the students’ learning environments.  Students with learning difference may also benefit from  incorporating embodied learning through the Alexander Technique and a creative emergent process.  This type of support helps students obtain agency in their learning process through the practice of self-awareness and reflection techniques.  Students learn how to track their attention and focus by becoming more aware of their bodies as they tackle daily tasks.  These types of skills are lifelong, supporting a sustainable, adaptive and resilient education.
